Don't be too predictable with strategys

One problem with many players in poker is that they try to follow too many of the strategy's to the letter and don't allow for nay variation. Now there is nothing hugely wrong with following strategys closely (after all they are there to help you win) but if you follow them the very same every time you play then this is going to hinder you if players catch on exactly how you play.

You shouldn't be afraid to sometimes use your own judgment when you play even if it means going against some of the strategys that you have read (playing differently to make it harder for your opponents to guess your game is a strategy in it self).

Being a predictable player won't help you, just like you are trying to work out how other players play their game, they are doing it with you. And if they see that the only hands you go to the flop with every time are top pairs then they will know how to play you!
